Description
My standard and most popular crook knife with a compound bent profile. This profile starts with a flat blade portion and gently bends upwards and over back towards the user. Its a good all round user and excels in carving the bowl of most spoon styles and small bowls. When carving the recessed bowl of a spoon or kuksa, both left and right handed (Push and pull techniques) are useful to have. This allows the user to cut from both sides of the grain orientation, in turn leaving a much cleaner and smoother surface.
If this is your first crook knife I recommend that you purchase the crook for your most dominant hand used in a pull motion, cutting towards you.
All of my crooks are made of 01 tool steel produced in Sheffield heat treated and tempered to 57-59 Rockwell. Blade length 60mm. Ground to 250 with a slightly rounded edge geometry which allows the tool to efficiently cut back out of the bowl its carving
Handle is a hexagonal profile at 120mm in length with a choice of handle materials shown in the drop down menu All woods a sourced sustainably and local from the Sherwood Forest area.
If you would like something special for your handle, please don’t hesitate to email me using the “Contact” page.
Wooden box sheaths are also available in matching wood for £25. A must for keeping your tool protected and improves edge longevity.
