What a wonderful day to be crafting! The sun is shining here in Nottinghamshire, the birds are chirping and the forge is a cranking. As I’m aware, most of those who ordered a travel sloyd sets off me have now received them, it’s time for the obligatory post! All aspects of these kits are made in house by myself.
Lots of components and bits have to be made. What I totally love about making these is that they challenge all skill sets. Tool making, leather working and wood work. It’s taken me years and years to learn the skills to be able to produce them.
These sets consist of six blades. 50mm Sloyd, detail knife, kolrosing, mini crook and both push and pull crooks. I do however go up to 11 tool sets which, like these, take a considerable amount of time and material to produce. I will (hopefully) always be making these so another small batch will be started soon. If you’d like one just drop me a PM. Lots of blade choices and woods. Mainly local Sherwood species but exotics also on request. Enjoy your weekend folks!!
The word “sloyd” is derived from the Swedish word Slöjd, which translates as crafts, handicraft, or handiwork. It refers primarily to woodwork but also paper-folding and sewing, embroidery, knitting and crochet. The Teachers Handbook of Slojd is available for free here
